What to Wear Guide

Newborn Sessions
Simple. Simple. Simple. I can't say that enough.

Generally I prefer babies be undressed unless the parent specifically asks for an outfit or prop. I feel like alot of busy colors/patterns or having them in outfits takes away from how natural and delicate these precious little humans are. We want to remember them as being little because we know this doesn't last long.

If you bring only the baby, that's perfect! I have all the props you will need for our session. I have wraps, headbands, hats and other props for you in several colors to choose from. I also love for clients to bring in personal items for us to use such as crochet/knitted items, blankets or anything of that nature. In this image below, the football was actually the father's in high school. So try thinking outside of the box and if you figure up something you'd like to use, bring it! <3

I often get asked what the parents or siblings should wear to the newborn shoot. As I mentioned before, simple is key. Neutral and solid colors look best. Such as black, white, grey, tan and brown. I also think navy blue looks great. Moms, please think about your fingernails. Have them freshly painted or remove all polish completely. I also suggest not having alot of extra jewelry like big earrings, necklaces or bracelets.  And dads, get those nail beds all nice and clean!

For siblings I like to stay true to using those neutral colors, plus throw in some pale pinks/blues. And remember... no busy patterns! I always have siblings barefoot just because I like the natural look and 99% of the time siblings are either sitting or laying down with the baby and it's more comfortable for them, especially when they're young.

Maternity/ Couples & Families
Coordinate. Not Matchy-Matchy.

The best way to help clients get started on outfits is I tell them to choose 2-3 colors. Coordinate your outfits with those colors. This will cause your outfits to flow together. An example would be Dad's red, black, and white plaid shirt. Mom could wear a solid top that is black and wear a red sweater over it or red necklace. This is just a very simple example, but I think you'll get the idea. Use the colors you decide but mix them up through out the outfits. I do think a pattern would look great thrown in too!

Maternity {Specially for Mommy to Be}

I get it. I get it. You're 30+ weeks pregnant. You're uncomfortable, hot, and just overall ready to not be pregnant and beyond ready to have that sweet baby in your arms. I've been there. We are our own worse critics and I believe that to be even more true to women. But what I believe even more, is that when a woman is pregnant, there is nothing more beautiful or more radiant. I tell my clients all the time "I can't believe how great you look, you're glowing!" And I truely mean that! Trust me and try something out of your comfort zone.  Try on this beautiful gown I have to offer, I've even got some fabric we could wrap around and just get some bare belly shots.  We can do outdoor, but if you're more comfortable I'm also offering indoor maternity sessions. Let me know your ideas so we can customize your session to be exactly what you want!

Seniors

What is your personal style or theme you're going for? This is key.

Play any sports? Have any Hobbies like reading, dance, politics? Anything important to YOU.

If you don't have any hobbies, just start with ideas for your outfit. Once I know what you're wearing, that helps me find a location that best fits for you. After outfits we both talk together about ideas/poses you have in mind and I'll share the location I think best fits for you.
